Elmer Taylor graduated from Arizona State University and moved to England to apprentice with Michael Leach, Bernard’s son. While living there, he befriended many British potters and shared many memorable moments at their potteries.
Elmer returned to teach at Mercer State in Georgia. Later he was hired by the University of North Texas, where he taught ceramics for over 40 years. He was a well known pottery maker who conducted workshops throughout the U.S. He traveled to many places, including Europe, where he visited every summer to see how his potter friends were doing and to buy their work.
Elmer is known for his unique style of pottery and his skill at brush decoration. He made pots that people could use in their homes. Elmer Taylor passed away in 2016 and left numerous pots. He and Dianne had opened a gallery in 2002 in Ketchum/Sun Valley, Idaho to sell their pots. When he died, he left pots from the gallery and the large storeroom where pottery was left to replenish the shop.
Dianne closed the shop after his death and brought his and her pots to Texas, where she stored them with plans to sell them over this website some day.
Check out Elmer’s pot collection and buy them to use or decorate your home.
