A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE TRUSTED POTTERY MAKERS

Your Decorative Partner for Decades

The owners of Taylormade Pottery, Elmer and Dianne Taylor, have been making and selling beautiful handmade pottery for the kitchen and table since the late 60s. Their one-of-a-kind clay work is crafted by throwing on a potter's wheel or building by hand. All their pots are food safe and can be used in the oven, microwave, refrigerator, and dishwasher.

Their History

Elmer and Dianne Taylor began their work in the 1960s. Elmer taught ceramics at the University of North Texas for over 40 years. His focus was functional pottery. Dianne worked in clay while she earned her Ph.D. and taught art appreciation and art history.

Travelers & Collectors

Through an apprenticeship with Michael Leach, son of Bernard Leach, Elmer began to collect after graduating from Arizona State University. Later, Elmer and Dianne got married. From 1977 to 1985, they traveled to Europe every summer to collect contemporary British functional pottery.

Journey as Pottery Makers

In 1986, the Taylors went to the Sun Valley Center for the Arts in Idaho for Elmer to conduct a workshop. They purchased a cabin at that time and rented it during the school year. They used to come back every summer to work in the studio there, which they had made from a former workshop in a building in the backyard.

Dianne took early retirement in 2002 to move to Ketchum, Idaho, to open Taylormade Pottery and to make pots full-time.
